Abstract

Macular edema (ME) is the leading cause of deteriorated visual acuity in patients with DME,and BRVO.
With discovery of the role of VEGF in development of macular edema in DME and BRVO.
Trials for IVI of Aflibercept for ttt of ME in DME and BRVO.In our study ,we observed the effectiveness of Aflibercept with its many advantages over than other anti-VEGF.
The aim of the work was to demonstrate the occurance of vitreoretinal interface abnormalities in patients with macular oedema secondary to BRVO, DME after intravitreal injection of Aflibercept (Anti VEGF).
This was prospective case series carried out on 50 eyes with ME secondary to BRVO,or DME visit retina unit ophthalmology department faculty of medicine Menoufia university.
- Procedure: Every eye was injected by aflibercept every month for 3 months respectively .
- This study included the following visits:
1-baseline : before IVI, with OCT macula before injection.
2- one month after the 3rd injection of Aflibercept, with doing OCT macula after injection of 3rd dose of Aflibercept.
3- 6 months after 3rd dose of Aflibercept, with doing OCT macula.
The results of this study showed a significant improvement in visual acuity after 3 and 6 months post operative. Also, it was found that there was a significant decrease in OCT at the two period of

follow up after 3 and 6 months. Regarding IOP it was found that there was no significant change all over the period of follow up. The incidence of complication was significantly higher in BRVO group more than the DM group.
