Abstract

”Pre-diabetes defined as a condition characterized by impaired glucose metabolism, including impaired fasting (IFG) and/or impaired glucose tolerance (IGT). Microvascular changes viz. nephropathy which was previously thought to occur after long period of diabetes are now observed as early in the pre-diabetes stage. Pre-hypertension is defined as the presence of blood pressure >120/80 mmHg but < 140/90 mmHg (i.e., blood pressure below hypertension 140/90 mmHg but above ideal 120/80 mmHg). It was demonstrated that; patients who diagnosed as prehypertension have subclinical target organ damage, including nephropathy or harbor an increased prevalence of nephropathy, and they need early recognition then it may be possible to reverse the usual progression into overt hypertension and thereby prevent patients from developing hypertension-related organ damage. Aim of the work: The aim of the current study was to detect early glomerular changes that can occur with Prediabetes and prehypertension subjects to construct a preventive tool against CKD. Study design: This study was conducted on a total of 60 Prediabetic and prehypertensive subjects who were admitted at Specialized Medical Hospital in Mansoura University with matched age and sex 60 apparently normal subjects act as control group over a period of six months.”
