Abstract

SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION
n our study ”Chest CT features of coronavirus disease-19
(COVID-19) pneumonia: which findings on initial CT can
predict an adverse short-term outcome?” a retrospective study
conducted at Radiology department – Ain Shams University
Hospitals, we had 60 PCR confirmed COVID-19 patients, 30
with good and 30 with bad short term outcome of COVID-19
infection and compared retrospectively between their clinical
data at admission and initial CT chest findings aiming at
defining the initial poor prognostic factors of the disease.
We used CT severity score to compare burden of the
disease in each group depending on percentage of affection of
each lung segment which was significantly higher in patients
with bad short term outcome.
Higher percentage of total lung affection, central and
peripheral involvement, anteroposterior distribution, crazy
paving, consolidation with air bronchogram and vessel
enlargement were the harbingers of poor prognosis especially
in patients of old age, having other comorbidities and presented
with shortness of breath.
