Abstract

Ultraviolet radiation has a lot of applications and the need for having a tool for detecting these radiations is essential. In this work, the ultraviolet photopyroelectric effect (light-induced pyroelectric effect) is investigated for ZnO samples; small nanorods, large nanorod, nanosheets, and nanospheres. These samples were prepared with different nanostructures and the effect of preparation parameters on the electrical resistivity and ultraviolet pyroelectric response was carried out. The effect of poling on pyroelectric current (Ipyro) was studied for the four samples at 60 V at different poling time (0, 1, 2, and 3) hours. Also, the effect of doping mole fraction of calcinated nanosphere ZnO sample with Fe3+ was studied by preparing Fe3+ doped ZnO with different mole ratios of Fe3+ dopant. The optical properties of the samples were measured by defuse reflection spectroscopy to determine their bandgap. Also, Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX), Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) are used for different samples to investigate structure morphology, particle size, surface area, and porosity.
