The Egyptian production of cultured Meagre has grown steadily during the past decade from 2,200 tons in 2009 to 5,884 tons in 2014 and then reached 25,320 tons in 2019 (Ali and Aboyadak, 2021). Egypt is the leading producer of cultured A. regius worldwide. In 2016, Egyptian production was 16,162 tons, representing 69% of the total global output estimated at 23,440 tons (Kruzic et al., 2016; GAFRD, 2018; FAO, 2021). |
