: First- Problem of the study
The problem of drug addiction among members of society is one of the most serious social problems, as addiction and drug promotion among students aims to destroy their minds and bodies at the same time. Therefore, the problem of drug addiction has become one of the most serious problems, because it increases every day with the decreasing age of addiction and the entry of new types of boys and young men from school children and university students to the cycle of death and destruction.
If adult drug abuse is a dangerous phenomenon, then students’ abuse represents a disaster for societies, as this group represents the human capital on which societies depend in their development and progress , secondary technical students are from the elite of society in their awareness . Facing the young people’s problem of drug abuse (Shabu) is not just punishment or treatment, but they must be prevented because prevention is better than treatment, and the best means of prevention is sound education. There is no doubt that raising young people on sound educational foundations is an essential factor in addressing this problem from the beginning. Young people from childhood should have a sense of confidence that enables him to take decisions to reject this epidemic and stay away from it and to take the initiative to participate in programs of drug abuse prevention.
The profession of social work is one of the most important professions that work in the field of ”addiction”, whether at the individual level or at the collective and societal level, which aims to serve these individuals and build the social system that aims to solve their problems, develop their awareness, perceptions and capabilities, and assist the existing systems in the state to play their role. Therefore, social work plays a prominent role in the prevention of drug addiction (shabu). The social worker can work with the addicted individual to help him treat addiction and quit using drugs.
The general practice of social work seeks to assess, support and care for people who need help to provide support and assistance to them. The preventive approach programs aim to protect individuals from the danger of exposure to drug abuse (shabu)and prevent its appearance by modifying attitudes towards risk factors and changing risk-taking behavior and the supporting factors that lead to it, such as aggressive behavior and lack of emotional control, which often appear during adolescence due to physical changes with taking into account the cultural and social environment surrounding the individual during the implementation of prevention programs.
Therefor the problem of the study can be formulated in the following title ”A suggested preventive program from the perspective of generalist social work practice to develop the awareness of technical secondary school students about the risks of shabu drug.”
Second- Importance of the study:
1. The importance of this study comes from the danger involved in drug abuse, which poses a real threat to our society, as it puts its target on the most important component of it, namely the youth, who represent the mainstay on which our society is based. This is negatively affects all different aspects of the social and economic development that the society seeks.
2. The current study derives its importance from the possibility of benefiting from it in the applied field, in terms of enlightening parents, teachers, and students not to be drawn into the deviant thought that promotes drugs.
3. The dangers of the phenomenon of drug abuse (shabu) on the safety and security of society and the family, and on the individual abuser, especially since many are ignorant of this danger.
4. It helps those concerned in developing plans and programs to combat and prevent the phenomenon.
5. The dangerous effects of drug addiction on the psychological, physical and family health of the individual.
6. It gives an indication to the stakeholders and decision-makers of the Ministry of Education about the nature of students’ attitudes towards addiction (shabu).
Third- Objectives of the study:
1. Determining the factors leading to the spread of shabu drug among technical secondary school students.
2. Determining the risks resulting from the spread of shabu drug among technical secondary school students.
3. Determining the services provided to educate high school technical students about the risks of shabu drug?
4. Determining the roles of the social worker as a general practitioner to prevent secondary school students from falling under the influence of shabu.
5. Determining the obstacles that hinder the social worker as a general practitioner to prevent secondary school students from falling under the influence of shabu.
6. Reaching proposals from the perspective of the general practice of social work to activate the role of the social worker as a general practitioner in preventing secondary school students from falling under the influence of shabu.
Fourth- Questions of the Study:
1. What are the factors that lead to the spread of shabu drug among technical secondary school students?
2. What are the risks arising from the spread of shabu drug among technical secondary school students?
3. What are the services provided to educate high school technical students about the risks of shabu drug?
4. What are the roles of the social worker as a general practitioner to prevent technical secondary school students from falling under the influence of shabu drug?
5. What are the obstacles that impede the social worker as a general practitioner to prevent secondary school students from falling under the influenceof shabu drug?
6. What are the necessary proposals from the perspective of the general practice of social work to activate the role of the social worker as ageneral practitioner in preventing secondary school students from falling under the influence of shabu drug?
Fifth- Concepts of the study:
1. General practice of social work.
2. Shabu drug .
3. Awareness.
4. Risks.
5. Technical secondary school students.
Sixth: Methodological procedures of the study:
1. Type of the study: Based on the study problem and in line with its objectives, the current study belongs to the descriptive studies, so it is concerned with describing and analyzing the risks of shabu drug on technical secondary school students and reaching a proposed preventive program to educate technical secondary school students to be aware of the risks of shabu drug .
2. The method used: The study relied on the scientific method using the social survey method by sample for technical secondary school students in Sohag, and a comprehensive social survey of social workers in the technical educational field at Al Baliana and Dar Al Salam.
3. Tools of the Study:
A- Data collection tools:
• A questionnaire for students of the technical secondary stage (commercial - industrial – agricultural)
• A questionnaire for social workers working in Al Baliana and Dar Al Salam schools.
B - Data analysis tools:
• Frequencies and percentages.
• The mean and standard deviation.
• Calculation of weights, relative and weighted averages, and relative degrees of dimension.
• Cronbach’s alpha coefficient.
4. Fields of Study:
A- Spatial field: The study was applied to technical education schools in Sohag. They are as follows: The Commercial Secondary School in Nagaa El Ezba in Dar Al Salam, Awlad Yahya Elhager Industrial School in Dar Al Salam, Dar Al Salam Agricultural Secondary School in Nagaa Radwan in Dar Al Salam, The Industrial Secondary School for Boys in Baliana, Al-Baliana Commercial Secondary School.
B - Human field: The human field was selected according to the following:
• The technical secondary stage students (200 male & female) in Baliana and Dar al-Salam.
• Social workers working in the technical secondary schools in Baliana and Dar Al Salam.
C- Time field: It is the period of data collection which lasted from 19/12/2021 to 23/1/2022 AD.
Seventh- Results of the study:
1. Results of the study showed that one of the most important factors that led to the spread of shabu drug, where the family factors came in the first place and got a relative strength of (70.78%), followed by the societal factors with a relative strength of (69.53%), followed by the subjective factors, with a relative strength of (69.20%).
2. Results of the study proved the risks arising from the abuse of shabu drug, where health risks came in the first place and got a relative strength of (76.64%), followed by social risks with a relative strength of (73.68%), followed by the moral and behavioral risks with a relative strength of (72.21%), followed by the psychological risks with a relative strength of (71.48%), and the economic risks came in the fifth and last place with a relative strength of (68.48%(.
3. Results of the study proved the services provided to educate technical secondary school students about the risks of shabu drug, with a relative strength of (58%), which is a relatively high percentage, and total weights of (5906) and a weighted average of (29.53%(.
4. Results of the study demonstrated the most important roles of the general practitioner in educating technical secondary school students about the the risks of shabu drug, with a relative strength of (74.26%), and total weights of (1114) and a weighted average of (55.7%).
5. Results proved that the most obstacles facing social workers in educating technical secondary school students about the risks of shabu drug, where the obstacles attributed to the social worker came in the first place and got arelative strength of (81.56 %), followed, in the second place, by the obstacles attributed to students and got relative strength of (76.86%), followed, in the third rank, by the obstacles attributed to the students’ families with a relative strength amounted to (72.87%), followed, in the fourth rank, by the obstacles related to the school administration with a relative strength of (68.13%). The community-related obstacles came in the fifth and last place and got a relative strength of (64.21%), and the relative strength of the combined obstacles reached (72.72%).
6. Results of the study proved that the most necessary proposals to overcome the obstacles facing social workers in educating technical secondary school students about the risks of shabu drug, where the proposals of the social worker came in the first place and got a relative strength of (81.56%), followed by the second proposal related to students with a relative strength of (76.86%), followed, in the third place, by the proposals related to the families of students and obtained a relative strength of (72.87%), followed, in the fourth place, by the proposals related to the school administration and obtained a relative strength of (68.13%). The community’s proposals came in the fifth and last rank and got a relative strength of (64.21%).The relative strength of the combined proposals reached (72.72(%.
7. The study reached a suggested preventive program from the perspective of general practice in social work to educate high school technical students about the risks of shabu drug.
