Abstract A total of 24 resin dies with prepared teeth 35 and 37 as abutments and missing tooth 36 as the pontic were used for construction provisional FDP made from 1 conventional bisacryl composite resin of provisional material Protemp 4 (groupP) and 2 CAD-CAM provisional materials acrylate polymer with filler Vita Cad Temp (group V) and PMMA Telio Cad (group T) (n=8 for each groups). The marginal gap and color change were evaluated before cementation. Each provisional FDP was cemented to its corresponding resin die using glass ionomer cement. After cementation, the marginal gap was evaluated then all specimens were subjected to 75000 thermo-mechanical cycling loading (5 ℃-55 ℃). Wear rate, marginal gap and color change were evaluated after thermo-mechanical cyclic loading. All specimens were mounted on the Universal Testing machine to measure fracture resistance for the provisional FDPs. The results were collected, tabulated and statistically analyzed Result : Provisional CAD-CAM FDPs showed less marginal gap than conventional one with statistically significant difference between all groups in all test conditions. Color changes according to Paravina study were with moderate unacceptable range ∆E (4.22 ±1.93 & 3.66 ±1.29) for CAD-CAM groups, while the provisional conventional FDP showed higher color change which is clearly unacceptable ∆E (5.96 ±1.91) with statistically significant difference between conventional and CAD-CAM groups. There was a statistically significant difference in wear rate between groups, and group T showed the highest wear rate while the least wear rate for their antagonist. CAD-CAM provisional FDPs showed higher fracture resistance than the conventional one with statistically significant difference between all groups Conclusion : Provisional CAD-CAM FDPs showed less marginal gap when compared with the conventional FDPs. The marginal gap of provisional conventional FDPs after thermo-mechanical cyclic loading was out of acceptable range. Provisional CAD-CAM FDPs are more color stable than the conventional one after thermo-mechanical cyclic loading. Telio CAD provisional FDP showed the least wear rate for antagonist among test materials, therefore it was the most friendly tooth antagonist. Provisional CAD-CAM FDPs show higher fracture resistance than the conventional one after thermo-mechanical cyclic loading. |
