Abstract Bone marrow is the main hematopoietic organ located mainly in the cavities of vascularized bones as skull, sternum, pelvic, vertebrae, scapulae, ribs and the proximal ends of the long bones. It produces about 500 billion blood cells per day in adults; it also constitutes about 4 % of total body weight. Normal bone marrow can be classified as red bone marrow that composed of the hematopoietic tissue and yellow bone marrow that consisting of fat cells. At birth, most of the bone marrow is red while in case of adults, the content of yellow and red marrow becomes equivalent |
