Abstract

Background: Ethical work climate of staff nurses has been used in many workplaces to explain issues related to organizational commitment. Ethical climate or is reflected in an organization{u2019}s objectives which aim to develop its staff by providing them good working environment and condition, assisting and support them in having job satisfaction, and thus these all will enhance commitment among the staff towards the organization.Aim: the current study assessed the relationship between ethical work climate and organizational commitment among staff nurses. Design: A descriptive comparative and correlation design utilized. Setting: The current study was conducted at inpatient departments at governmental Hospital (Nasr city hospital) and private hospital (Mainsheet el bakery hospital). Subjects: Study sample composed of all staff nurses who were working in the governmental and private hospitals and accepted to participate in the study and their number were (268) staff nurses. Tools: Data were collected by using two tools: The first tool was ethical work climate questionnaire and the second tool was organizational commitment questionnaire. Results: there were a highly statistically significant differences between governmental and private hospitals in the ethical climate with a mean percent (69.4%) and organizational commitment with a mean percent (71.4%)
