Abstract

This study was designed to evaluate the effect of the infiltrative resin on demineralized enamel sub surface lesion color, surface roughness with three different intervals of time and also colour stability and stain resistance.Thirty freshly extracted human anterior teeth were seleced to be the study specimens. They were divided into three equal groups, each of ten teeth.group A1 refered to immediate application of infiltrative resin, group A2 refered to delayed two weeks application of infiltrative resin and finally group A3 refered to delayed one month application of infiltrative resin.Assessment of all teeth for enamel colour and surface roughness were done using a zoom Stereo microscorpe for image analysis (at 35 x) (for colour measurement), before lesions inducton (base line) after lesion inductuion and after infilrtrative resin application and finally after staining agent immersion for three differnet time durations.Prepared demineralizing solution was used to induce artificial demineralized enamel sub-surface lesions, all the specimen were preserved in artificial salivary solution till the time of the experiment and incubated at 37 {u00B0}C (mimicking the oral cavity temperature) and were refreshed every day. Infiltration resin was used to treat the demineralized enamel lesions according to manufacturer{u2019}s instructions.Coffee was selected to be used as a staining agent and all the specimens were immersed six days, staining agent was replaced daily to avoid bacterial contamination. Enamel surface roughness was assessed in the term of (Ra) the arithmetic mean value of the movement of the profile above and below the center line of the surface using the Stereo micro scope of image analysis while enamel colour was assessed using a computerized image analysis in term of a grey scale value using zoom Stereo microscope
