Abstract

Sutureless laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair was done in pilot non-comparative studies and showed excellent outcome for the both boys and girls. In the Mario Riquelme study 91 patients were operated (males and females) with no recurrence at all. They did a laparoscopic evaluation of the operated side due to associated cryptorchidism on the contralateral side, in which they were able to confirm a complete closure of the interior inguinal ring. (4) Purse string with dissection of the hernial sac was used as the standardized technique in our study was the first technique to be introduced for laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair in children with minimal complications and 1.5% recurrence rate. (5) The time of the operation was the main difference between both techniques as in purse string usage the mean time of operation was 44 minutes and 34 minutes respectively for the unilateral and bilateral cases and in Sutureless technique was 40 minutes in Riquelme and 22 minutes only in Novotny for unilateral patients
