Abstract Aim: The present proposal objective is to focus on the glycoprotein reelin and nestin.The two genes regulation was testified in case of hypothyroidism and/or the pesticide emamectin benzoate intoxication and the relationships between them and DNA damage in hand and apoptosis in another hand. Material and Methods: Male and female albino rats (Rattus norvegicus) aged 12 {u2013} 14 weeks, were used. Male rats were allowed to mate with females.The pregnant rats were then isolated from male rats and housed in separate cages.After delivery, mothers and pups were grouped as control group, carbimazole group (positive control for hypothyroidism), emamectin benzoate group, and mixed group of emamectin benzoate and carbimazole group. At the 10th and 21st days, six neonatal rats from each group were withdrawn. Plasma samples were prepared and used for thyroid hormones determination. The brains were removed and used for the biochemical parameters. Results: After oral gavages with CBZ, EMB, and their combination, the concentrations of T3 and T4 of neonatal rats were decreased. While reelin mRNA gene expression was significantly decreased (P<0.01) as compared to control after oral gavages with CBZ, EMB, and their combination, nestin was significantly up regulated. Caspase-3 mRNA was significantly increased after oral gavages with CBZ, EMB, and their combination. Comet assay showed the elevated levels of comet tail DNA and tail moment and a decrease in head DNA. Conclusion: The pesticide emamectin benzoate considered as a teratogen due to its embryotoxic effects |
