Abstract The present thesis comprises of three main chapters in addition to Arabic and English summaries. The data are collected in (18 Table) and represented in (62 Figure), (9 Scheme) as well as (139 References). The First Chapter: Introduction This chapter concerned with a scientific literature survey on barbituric acid as one of pyrimidine compounds, 4-aminoacetophenone derivatives and their applications Also, it contains information about uses of organic ligands and inorganic metal complexes in biological and as dye sensitizer solar cells (DSCCS). The Second Chapter: Experimental This part describes the preparation of azodye ligands; 2-((2,4,6- trioxohexahydropyrimidin-5-yl)diazenyl)benzoic acid (H3L1) and 5-((4- acetylphenyl)diazenyl)pyrimidine-2,4,6(1H,3H,5H)-trione (H2L2) which are resulted from coupling of diazotization of o‐ Amino benzoic acid or 4- aminoacetophenon with barbituric acid, respectively. Also, metal chelates based on ligands with Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), VO(II), Ti(IV), Fe(III), Hg(II), Ru(III), Ag(I), Zr(IV) and Hf(IV) were synthesized. Different instrumental tools were utilized for elucidation the structures of all obtained compounds as elemental analyses, spectral techniques (IR, UV–Vis, 1H NMR and mass spectra for the ligands), magnetic susceptibility, molar conductivity and thermogravimetric studies. The construction of dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) based on (H3L1) and (H2L2) azodye ligands and their metal complexes. Finally, the biological activity (antitumor and antimicrobial) of the prepared ligands and some of their metal complexes was studied |
