Abstract

The aim of this study was to detect an accurate sonographic
parameter for assessment of gestational age in third trimester of
pregnancy.
This study was performed to compare between the trans
cerebellar diameter and Bi-parietal diameter and femur length and
abdominal circumference in accuracy of assessment of gestational age
in third trimester of pregnancy.
The study was conducted on 160 pregnant women in their third
trimester at the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Menoufia
University Hospitals from October 2020 till June 2021.
The whole patients were fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion
criteria and counseled for the study and then ultrasound examination
and measurements of the Transcebellar diameter Bi-parietal diameter
and femur length and abdominal circumference were recorded.
Data were coded and entered using the statistical package SPSS
version 22. Pearson Correlation technique used to test the direction
and strength of the relationship between TCD and gestational age and
also the various other parameters measured through ultrasound. The
percentages of accurate assessment of gestational age by the four
measurements (TCD, BPD, AC and FL) from the actual gestational
age measured by LMP or first trimester ultrasound CRL were
calculated. Then comparison between these percentages and Chi
square (x2) test was performed. Exact test was used instead when the
expected frequency is less than 5 (Chan, 2003). P-values less than
0.05 were considered as statistically significan
