Abstract The assessment of liver fibrosis by non-invasive methods before and after treatment is clinically important where hepatitis C virus (HCV) is common in Egypt. Aim: The efficacy of the combined treatment sofosbuvir and ribavirin on HCV infected patients by evaluate the mean serum levels of some direct markers such as Laminin (LN) as fibrogenic marker and platelets derived growth factor (PDGF) and Angiopoietin-1 (Ang-1) as angiogenic markers before and after treatment for the same patients and indirect markers were also included. Also, trying to assess the ability of Ang-1 as a direct marker to differentiate between significant and non-significant fibrosis and the results were compared with those of indirect published score AST/ALT ratio (AAR).This study implying significantly decreased in the mean serum levels of laminin, platelet derived growth factor and angiopoietin-1after treatment. Thus, can be used to assess treatment response and improved liver condition. Also, we found that Ang-1 can help in assessing hepatic fibrosis and superior to AAR score in discriminating the stages of the liver disorders in CHC Egyptian patients |
