Abstract The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy of a suggested strategy based on storytelling approach in developing speaking skills of the first secondary stage students. A quasi experimental study was conducted including two groups: an experimental group (n=30) and a control one (n=30) in the first year of Secondary stage. Three instruments were used in this study; a checklist, a pre-posttest and a rubric. The researcher used a strategy that depended on a combination of digital storytelling approach and literature. The results of the post-test have confirmed the hypothesis that a strong linear correlation exists between speaking skills, strategy based on storytelling approach (especially digital storytelling) and the strategy had a large effect in developing speaking skills. The study showed a remarkable improvement in the participants’ speaking skills especially fluency after the implementation of the suggested strategy based on storytelling approach |
