Abstract

Quality of health care is an important component of long-term socioeconomic development. Healthcare systems are thus encountering an increased demand for high quality care while the resources they can command from society are decreasing. Primary health care (PHC) aims to prevent disease or injury before it ever occurs. Aim: The current study aimed to assess nursing staff perception about the quality of health care system in PHC centers in Beni- Suef governorate. Research Design: Descriptive cross- sectional design was used. Setting: The study was conducted at 65 PHC centers in Beni-Suef Governorate. Sample: The total sample size was (455) nurses of different categories of nursing staff working in the selected 65 primary health care centers in Beni-Suef governorate.Tool: Self-administered questionnaire sheet. Results: The highest mean score of nurses’ perception (37.92± 6.26) was definition of quality. The lowest mean score (12.06 ± 2.51) was teamwork formation and its type. More than half (51.9%) of the participants had high perception level about quality health care system, While, more than one quarter (35.8%) of them had moderate perception level. Conclusion: There was a high and moderate perception among most nursing staff in primary health care centers. Recommendations: Reinforce nurses’ perception toward quality of health care system by applying Egyptian guidelines standards for PHC centers
