Abstract Objective: To investigate the effect of kinetic control retraining versus Mulligan mobilization on functional outcomes in patients with lumbar radiculopathy. Subjects: Thirty patients, suffered from chronic LBP with radiculopathy were selected from outpatient clinics, Faculty of physical therapy, Cairo University. Methods: Patients were randomly assigned into two equal groups, kinetic and Mulligan groups. The Kinetic group received kinetic control retraining and conventional physical therapy program while the Mulligan group received Mulligan`s mobilization and the same convectional physical therapy program for three sessions/week for eight weeks). All patients were examined before and after intervention by inclinometer (for lumbar range of motion), Oswestry disability index (for functional ability), pain detect questionnaire (for neuropathic pain) and visual analogue scale (for pain intensity). Results: After intervention, both groups showed significant improvement in favor to the kinetic group regarding Oswestry Disability Index, pain detect questionnaire, pain intensity and lumbar ROM (P<0.001).Conclusion: Kinetic control retraining intervention was more effective than Mulligan mobilization in improving functional outcomes in patients with lumbar radiculopathy |
