Abstract

This experimental work was carried out at El-Serw Research Station for Waterfowls, Animal Production Research Institute, Agriculture Research Center. The first experiment was carried out during summer season from June to August 2016 and the second experiment was carried out during September to February 2017. Four hundred and fifty unsexed Pekin and Sudani ducklings (225 per each breed) one-day old were used in the present study. The experimental period lasted until 38 weeks of age. Experimental ducklings were randomly divided into the five equal treatments with 90 ducklings (45/each bread). Each experimental treatment was randomly divided into three equal replicates of 30 ducklings (15 ducklings of each breed). The five experimental treatments were as follows: first one was control treatment received basal diets, treatments 2 and 3 received basal diets supplemented with 300 and 450 mg/kg diet L-Carnitine (LC), while treatments 4 and 5 received basal diets supplemented with 400 and 600 og/kg diets Yeast chromium (Cr), respectively. Duckling fed ration supplemented with LC and Cr were significantly improved in live body weight, body weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion ratio. Relative weight of carcass and lymphoid organs were significantly increased with dietary supplementation ration. Accumulative egg number/ duck through the productive period (26-38 weeks of age) for Pekin ducks were better than Sudani ducks by about 38.29%. Sudani ducks produced higher value of egg, albumin and shell weights, shape and yolk index and Haugh units than Pekin ducks by about 7.68, 10.44, 24.35, 11.76, 15.00 and 1.25% respectively. Pekin ducks produced higher value of semen volume, live sperms and advanced motility than Sudani ducks by about 84.0, 3.98 and 5.12%, respectively
