The study discusses the subject of: ”Tourist Facilities in the Northern Upper Egypt Region”. The thesis consists of five chapters, preceded by an introduction and followed by a conclusion that includes results and recommendations.
The title of the first chapter is: ”Natural Factors Affecting Tourist Facilities”. It examines the most important of these factors, which are the location, surface features, and climate and Nature Reserves in the region.
The title of the second chapter is: ”Human Factors Affecting Tourist Facilities”. This chapter examines the study of historical heritage by presenting the Pharaonic, Greco-Roman, Coptic, and Islamic antiquities in the provinces of the region, then studying the transport factor of all kinds, then studying the infrastructure networks such as drinking water, electricity and communications networks.
The third chapter is entitled: ”Classification of Tourist Facilities in the Region”. It examines the concepts of what the tourism facilities are and trying to separate the concepts between them and the tourism service and the tourist product, then classify them in the region, and proposes what the region owns of each type of these facilities, and then display some indicators of the tourism industry in the region such as the tourist density index and the tourist job index as well. Also it proposes the indicator of the establishments’ share of rooms and rooms of the family.
As for the fourth chapter, it is entitled: ”Spatial Analysis of Tourism Facilities in the Region”. It examines the distribution of tourist facilities and the extent of their concentration and dispersion by studying the average location, the standard distance and the direction of distribution for each type of these facilities. It also discusses the analysis of the density of points through making ”kernel analysis”, and the analysis of ”neighbor-lines” was done for these facilities. At the end of the chapter, an arrangement was made for the provinces of the region according to the degree of concentration of facilities in each province.
Chapter Five is entitled: ”Problems and Suggestions for Tourism Facilities in the Region”. This chapter studies the evaluation of the tourism service provided by some hotels in the region, then the problems related to the tourism facilities in the region. Then the chapter discusses the suggestions for facilities, whether offered by the governorates administration or by the researcher.
