Abstract

Artificial insemination has the potential to improve fertility and overcome many traditional methods of horse reproduction. The advantages of artificial insemination over natural insemination such as eliminating travel distance, controlling diseases and reducing accidental injuries to the stallion or mare. AI is an effective technique with acceptable pregnancy rates, and AI with semen (fresh, cooled and frozen) is the most common biotechnology in equines.
Objectives of the study:
1. Effect of year months and seasons on testicular dimensions, sexual behaviors and semen characters in Arabian stallions under subtropical condition in Kuwait.
2. Estimation of the number of services/conception and the pregnancy rates of the Arabian mares as a result of natural and artificial insemination with fresh, chilled, and frozen semen.
3. The effect of age, time of insemination (before or after ovulation), and hormonal use (hCG) on the pregnancy rate in Arabian mares.
