Abstract Egypt has the highest prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) which results in a high morbidity and mortality from chronic liver disease, cirrhosis, liver failure and hepatocellular carcinoma. HCC is the third leading cause of cancer-associated mortality representing 90% of all primary liver cancers. HCC represents the sixth most common cancer worldwide. In Egypt, it represents the fourth common cancer worldwide, HCC is the fourth most common cause of death from cancer. It was estimated to be responsible for nearly 9.1% of the total deaths in 2012 |
