Abstract

Mechanical properties of infinite nuclear matter are important in determining the type of the equation of state of the nuclear matter. Stress {u2013} strain of the infinite nuclear matter making up a pulsar included in binary compact neutron star system is studied for sources PSR B 1913+16 (Discovered in 1974). Bulk modulus (or the compressibility) of the infinite nuclear matter is investigated through two theoretical treatments. That is, deriving the compressibility from the polytropic equation of state and by modeling the tidal deformation of a pulsar included in a binary system. The compressibility is found as a function of total energy density in first approach, and the magnitude of the deformation is estimated in the second approach, as the eccentricity is found to be of 10⁻⁵ order and the elongation is of the order 10⁻⁹ km
