Abstract

In an era that the Internet is not the only threat to the newspaper business model but also the changes in consumption patterns promoted by the appearance of new digital and mobile technologies, and the excess in supply of content have all contributed to a fragmentation of consumers and advertisers. This study looks at three of the main significant changes taking place in newspapers regarding the way they organize their activities and processes to face these challenges and how that affects the performance of the journalists. The first is the organizational structure of the news organizations’; how it is built, and organizes its work. The second is the level to which the organization is integrating variables like training, ICTs and outsourcing to improve its performance taking in consideration that the overall goal of integration is usually to offer a better service to readers and advertisers. The third is the level to which there is a business model being adapted by the new organization with specific standards and criteria’s with clear job descriptions and precise practical ways of evaluation for the performance of the journalists (quantity and quality) wise. This is why our research tries to describe and explain the organizational structure of the news organizations and its effect on the journalistic performance in the different types of Egyptian owned news organizations within the time frame of 2014 till 2019
