Abstract

A spinel nanoferrites with the general formula CoFe₂O₄ ; was synthesized by citrate auto combustion technique. Samples were classified into three groups. In the first group, an attempt was made to prepare ferrite sample with the general formula Co₁-xCaxFe₂O₄ (0.0 {u2264} x {u2264} 1.0) by citrate auto combustion method. The effect of substitution of nonmagnetic ion (Ca²⁺) on the structural, morphological and magnetic behavior was studied. According to results obtained from first group, the composition (C₀.₇Ca₀.₃Fe₂O₄) was found to have the optimum values in the measured parameters. Second group deals with the preparation of ferrite nanoparticles with general formula C₀.₇Ca₀.₃Fe₂O₄ by citrate auto combustion and standard ceramic methods.This study aims to improve the physical properties of the investigated samples and produce hard magnetic materials with good mechanical properties in order to get more applicable material. Second group showed that the sample prepared by citrate method at room temperature is a better candidate for applications in recording media due to its high values of the coercivity Hc” " ~ " ” 900 Oe. Enhancement of mechanical performance of C₀.₇Ca₀.₃Fe₂O₄ nano ferrites samples by adding EPDM is the main issue in the third group
