Abstract

Since its existence composite materials consisting of rather rigid polymeric materials were successfully used as permanent magnets, magnetic cores and as connecting and fixing elements in many areas. In the presence of an external magnetic field, these magnetic elastomers have low flexibility and practically don{u2019}t change their shape, size or elastic properties. Magnetic elastomer has been developed recently. Lithium ferrite is a spinel ferrite with cubic crystal structure and attract a great interest since 1950 till now. Our main goal of this work was to study the physical properties of a composite containing lithium ferrite particles embedded in a thermoplastic elastomer matrix. Due to its good mechanical and electrical properties, the selected polymer matrix was poly methyl-methacrylate PMMA.The second goal of our work is to investigate the influence of a magnetic field on the alignment of the lithium ferrite particles in the PMMA matrix during samples preparations. In the preparation of LiFe5O8/ PMMA dispersed composites, the alignment of LiFe5O8 and the stable dispersions of LiFe5O8 are important for potential applications. The above goals will be achieved via different measurements such as, X-ray diffraction, TGA analysis, AC and DC electrical properties and vibrating sample magnetometer
