Abstract Two Field experiments were conducted at the Agricultural Experiments and Researches Station, Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University, Giza, Egypt during the two successive winter growing seasons of 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 in order to study the effect of foliar application with various concentrations of yeast extract (YE) (3, 5 and 7g YE/l.), seaweed extract (SE) (5, 10 and 15g SE/l.) and their combinations (3g YE/l + 5g SE/l, 5g YE/l +10g SE/l and 7g YE/l +15g SE/l) on morphological, anatomical, leaf photosynthetic pigments and yield characters as well as on seed quality of faba bean cv. Misr 3. The results showed that foliar application with yeast extract at concentrations of 3g /l and 7g/ l, seaweed extract at concentrations of 5g/l and 15 g/l as well as their combinations of 3g YE/l+ 5g SE/L and 7g YE/l + 15g SE/l enhanced some investigated morphological, yield and chemical characters of faba bean plant without significant differences with the control plants in both studied seasons. While, foliar application with the relatively median used concentrations of 5g YE/l., 10g SE/l. and their interactions of 5g YE/l+10g SE/l exhibited significant promotive effects on all vegetative growth parameters expressed as plant height, main stem length, number of internodes, number of branches/plant, number of leaves/plant, fresh and dry weight of shoot /plant, and yield characters such as number of pods/plant, number of seeds/plant , seeds yield/plant and specific average weight of 100 seeds as well as induced favorable enhancements in seed quality of faba bean plant such as total nitrogen , crude protein and total carbohydrate percentages as well as total amino acids content of faba bean seeds as compared with the control plants |
