Abstract

This randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted at post-partum unit at Suez general hospital in Suez city. The subjects were randomly allocated into 1 of 2 groups; (1) study group included 60 women who received episiotomy care using lavender essential oil, and (2) control group included 60 women who received episiotomy care using routine care (povidone-iodine). Two outcome measures were examined; (1) healing of episiotomy was evaluated by episiotomy assessment checklist (wound healing signs) and (2) episiotomy pain was assessed by McGill pain score. The women were examined at baseline, 2nd, 4th, and 10th day postpartum.
