Abstract

his chapter includes an overview of previous researches for use down
flow hanging sponge in wastewater treatment and use of Hydrazone chelator
in heavy metals treatment and their application.
I- Experimental
This chapter contains the chemical and machines used in practical part
of thesis as follow:
1) The physico-chemical method measuring such as pH, Temp., TDS, COD,
BOD, TSS, ammonia, fecal coliform and their heavy metal.
2) Preparation of the Hydrazone chelator and its metal chelates.
3) characterization of the ligand and its metal chelates using:
 Physical technique such as molar conductance and magnetic Susceptibility.
 Spectral technique as IR, UV-Vis.
III. Result and discussion
This chapter includes characterization of wastewater and use the sponge
in treated it and add the chelator to heavy metal treating where Downflow
hanging Sponge (DHS) system was module column consists of four identical
segments connected vertically, each segment will be equipped with 25 L of
polyurethane foam (PF) warped with plastic material randomly distributed in
the whole reactor and ligand was prepared as follow : Tartaric acid (10.0 g,
2.30 mol) was boiled in methanol for 1h .Five drops of conc. H2SO4 were
added, and continuous refluxed to 3hr
