Abstract

Selecting development site for Ecotourism requires a diverse variety of de¬¬cision factors, some of which are interdependent within and between themselves. Repetitive analysis of spatial data, as well as management of numerous decision-making criteria to find the optimal position meeting desired conditions, is considered an overwhelming, time-consuming task for analysts. The method uses geographic information systems systematically combined with multi-criteria assessment methods: Analytical Network Process (ANP) with Fuzzy quantifier-clarifier ordered weighted averaging processors to guarantee that the construction of new Ecotourism facilities would include a basic effective decision-making feature that enables decision-makers to set a choice approach on such a gradient among pessimistic (risk-averse) and optimistic (risk-taking) approaches through generalizing the aggregation method utilized in the ANP. Next, the spatial data analysis required to produce a variety of potential scenarios for suitable sites is conducted using the GIS-based ANP-OWA, which takes into account both interrelated connections between site selection requirements and the degree of responsibility that decision-makers would like to expect throughout their multi-criteria assessment. To explain the proposed method application, a standard case study is presented in the region of RAS MOHAMMED, South Sinai, Egypt using three main criteria: environmental, legal and market-related where each is divided into a sub-criteria level. A suitability map is then produced illustrating both least and most suitable sites. In terms of the 14 criteria used (slope, aspect, distance from roads, distance from sites, land use / cover, maxtemp, mintemp ,maxwind, windspeed, pressure, visibility, humidity, averagetemp
