Abstract The present work was planned to synthesize some new pyridine derivatives and to study the insecticidal activities of them against Cowpea Aphid, Aphis craccivora Koch (Homoptera: Aphididae). Also, the effect of humic acid on the adsorption of a promising insecticide onto bentonite nanocaly was evaluated The synthesis of the target compounds started from malononitrile which on reaction with acetylacetone afforded 3- cyano-4,6-dimethylpyridin-2(1H)-one (I) that undergo chlorination with POCl3 to give 2-chloro-3-cyano-4,6- dimethylpyridine (II). The compound 3-cyano-4,6- dimethylpyridin-2(1H)-thione (III) was obtained by reaction of chloro compound (II) with thiourea. Condensation of compound (III) with benzaldehyde in the presence of few drops of piperidine resulted in the formation of 3-cyano-4,6- distyrylpyridin-2(1H)-thione (IV). |
