Abstract

Injection of the dermal fillers has become one of the most popular procedures in cosmetic surgery, which in its ideal form should be associated with few adverse effects that decrease and get better with time, not surprisingly, there is often a lag in medical literature between the application of a new product and its ensuing adverse events, this what happened with permanent fillers for both cosmetic treatment and soft tissue reconstructive defects. Early studies reported long-term safety due to the polymer‟s lack of mutagenic, allergenic, or immunogenic side effects.
Afterward problems of permanent fillers started to appear through the years. The aim of the study was to evaluate the different surgical and non-surgical techniques to prevent and treat different aspects of complications associated with different types of fillers. The study included 31 patients presented by different complications post filler injection from October 2019 to October 2021. All patients were assessed generally and locally regarding timing of injection, injected material, examination of the facial nerve branches assessment of the presence of facial nodules, previous inflammation of the material, presence of excess skin and radiological investigation to confirm the site of the injected material, post-operative histopathological investigations were done and assessment of the satisfaction of the patient regarding scars, symmetry, and contour. Patients aged from 32 to 60 years with post-operative complications ranging from 9.1% to 50%, we didn‟t have any complication of parotid duct injury or wound dehiscence. Aesthetic outcome was accepted by most of our patients.
