Abstract

The present study was carried out at the Private Farm, Kom-Ombo-Aswan,
Upper Egypt, during the two growth seasons of 2017 and 2018 to study the effect of
organic, phosphate and potash fertilization on productivity and quality of sugarcane
crop (Commercial variety, Giza Taiwan = C 9).
All cultural practices the growing sugarcane was applied uniformity as
recommended.
5.1. Growth characters:
• Application of farm yard manure (FYM) at the rate of 20 m3 recorded the
highest mean values of cane length (cm), internode length (cm), number of
tillers/plant, number of internodes/plant, leaf area index (LAI), and cane
diameter (cm) in both cropping seasons. Meanwhile, the lowest ones obtained
with the lowest rate of FYM (10 m3/fed).
• Sugarcane plants received 300 kg calcium super phosphate/fed recorded the
highest value of cane length (cm), internode length (cm), number of
tillers/plant, number of internodes/plant, leaf area index (LAI), and cane
diameter (cm) as compared with the other levels in both seasons, while the
lowest level (100 kg from mono calcium super phosphate/fed) gave the lowest
ones in the two seasons.
• Sugarcane plants received 150 kg of potassium sulphates/fed recorded the
highest value of cane length (cm), internode length (cm), number of
tillers/plant, number of internodes/plant, leaf area index (LAI), and cane
diameter (cm) as compared with the other levels in both seasons, while the
lowest level (50 kg from potassium sulphates/fed) gave the lowest ones during
the two seasons.
• The highest cane length (cm), internode length (cm), number of tillers/plant,
number of internodes/plant, leaf area index (LAI), and cane diameter (cm) was
recorded by application of 30 m3 from FYM with application of 300 kg Pfertilizer/
fed followed by 20 m3 FYM + 300 kg from P- fertilizer which had no
significant difference between 30 m3 FYM, while the lowest one was produced
by 10 m3 + 100 kg from Calcium super phosphate (15.5) kg/fed in both
growing seasons.
• The highest mean value of cane length (cm), internode length (cm), number of
tillers/plant, number of internodes/plant, leaf area index (LAI), and cane
diameter (cm) was produced by 20 m3 from FYM with application of 100 kg
from K- fertilizer/fed, while, the lowest one was recorded by lowest levels from
10 m3 FYM + 50 kg/fed K- fertilizer in both seasons
Application of 300 kg/fed from P- fertilizer with 150 or 100 kg/fed from Kfertilizer
recorded, significantly the highest values of cane length (cm),
internode length (cm), number of tillers/plant, number of internodes/plant, leaf
area index (LAI), and cane diameter (cm), while the lowest one was produced
by application of lowest rates from P- and K- fertilizers in both seasons.
• Application of 30 m3/fed FYM + application of 300 kg P- fertilizer/fed + 150
or 100 kg/fed from K- fertilizer recorded, significantly the highest values of
leaf area index (LAI), while the lowest one was produced by application of
lowest rates from P- and K- fertilizers in both seasons.
