Abstract

Two field experiments were undertaken in a private farm, at Abo-El-Matamer district in El-Beheira Governorate, Egypt, under open field conditions during the summer seasons of 2019 and 2020 to investigate the various combinations between foliar application with auxin (NAA) and cytokinin (BA) on vegetative growth, yield, and quality as well as the production of safe and economic potato tubers (Cara cultivar).
 Sixteen treatments were arranged in factorial experiments in RCBD design with 3 replicates which were the simple possible combination between 4 levels of (α-naphthaleneacetic acid ”NAA”) i.e. control (distilled water), 25, 50 and 100 mg. l-1 and 4 concentrations treatments of (6-Benzyladenine ”BA”) i.e. control (distilled water), 25, 50 and 100 mg. l-1.
The obtained results could be summarized as follow:
5.1 Vegetative growth characters
 The highest mean values for plant height (cm), number of leaves/plants, number of branches/plants, plant fresh weight (g) and plant dry weight (g) of potato were found to be associated with the addition of NAA at 100 mg.l-1.
 The maximum plant height (cm), number of leaves/plants, number of branches/plants, plant fresh weight (g) and plant dry weight (g) of potato in two seasons were recorded with higher concentration of BA as cytokinin at rate of 100 mg. l-1 comparing with the untreated plants which recorded the lowest values of plant growth parameters.
 The highest mean values of mentioned parameters in both seasons were recorded with plants sprayed with 100 mg. l-1 for each of NAA and BA.
5.2 Yield characters and its components:
 Foliar application by NAA at different concentration (25, 50 and 100 mg. l-1) had a significant differences effect between all treatments with control, while concentrations of 50 and 100 mg.l-1 had no significant effect with all parameters except average weight of tuber in the 2nd season which significantly affected with four treatments. The highest mean values of yield parameters recorded with plants sprayed by 100 mg. l-1 NAA as auxin, which approximately around the treatment of 50 mg. l-1.
 Foliar application of treatments with different concentration by BA as cytokinin significantly affected all yield parameters over the ubtereated plants under investigation during both seasons of the experiment. Except the diffrences between treatment of 50 and 100 mg.l-1 in the first seasons with number of tuber, total yield, weight of marketable tuber > 35g (ton/fed), Weight of seed – sized tuber ton/ fed. (35 – 55 g) and Weight of unmarketable tuber < 35g (ton/fed) had no significant effect with near values together. The highest values achied with 100 mg.l-1.
 As for the interaction effect found that the highest mean values of all parameters recorded with foliar application with 100 mg.l-1 for each NAA or BA in two sesaons.
