Abstract Objective: The aim of the study was to investigate the value of hydrotubation on the ongoing pregnancy rate before intrauterine insemination (HTBIi).Methodology: It was a prospective randomized trial in which 272 women with the diagnosis of different aetiologies of infertility, ovarian stimulation was performed before IUI, using Clomiphene citrate 100 mg daily were started from day 3 of the cycle for 5 days and one ampoule 75 IU of human menopausal Gonadotrophin daily injection from day 6 of the cycle for 5 days. Folliculometry and determination of LH concentration in urine were performed daily until LH became positive, then randomization for hydrotubation before IUI versus no hydrotubation was performed. A total of 272 patients were randomized as follows:109 women undergoing hydrotubation using 200 ml of saline and 163 women with no hydrotubation.Findings: Our study showed a significant improvement in the ongoing pregnancy rate by utilizing hydrotubation prior to IUI (13 % vs 8.6 %).This represents a 33% improvement in pregnancy outcome when hydrotubation is used prior to IUI |
