Abstract Hypocalcaemia is the most common complication after thyroidectomy. Hypocalcaemia may be delayed up to 48 hourse after thyroidectomy. Perioperative parathyroid hormone measurement has been validated in indentification of patients at risk of postoperative hypocalcaemia. Parathyroid hormone use as a predictor of hypocalcaemia allows for early and safe patients discharge after thyroidectomy.Therefor, improve cost effectiveness of the patients |
