Abstract Miles and Snow (1978) is a classical framework of strategic management, claiming that firms ought to implement clear and distinct strategies to enhance their performance. In this study, the researcher has studied the applicability of the typology to the industrial firms working in Egypt. The research results indicate that industrial firms do possess unique and robust strategic orientation and that cope with Miles and Snow types of defender, analyzer, and prospector. The Miles and Snow typology has significant effects for the firm, as based on the Strategic Orientation agreed upon{u2014}prospector, analyzer or defender{u2014}the company should principally put emphasis on certain features of management, and that will mostly improve its performance. To validate the applicability of the typology, a sample of 412 Egyptian industrial firms was used.The outcomes supported the predictable relationships, highlighted the variances amongst the four strategic stances and also the altered effects that every single strategic category has on the performance of the firm.The research results also support the notion that strategic orientation impact financial performance. The outcomes of the thesis point out that analyzers are the prevailing ones between the Egyptian industrial firms than prospectors and defenders, in that order.This thesis compares the financial performance of the four strategic types and the outcomes indicate that the prospector is positively affecting the financial performance of the firms while the reactor is negatively affecting it. Findings:The strategic orientation prevailing in the Egyptian industrial firms are Analyzers(36%)flowed by Prospectors (34%), after that Defenders come with (17%) and lastly are Reactors with (12%) |
