Abstract Fast melt tablet (FMTs) have become promising dosage form owing to the ease of administration and rapid dissolving (<one minute) in the mouth without needing water for administration. Caffeine is a central nervous stimulant and helps to restore alertness, improves performance, and reduce fatigue. Pharmaceutically, Caffeine is used in the treatment of apnea in newborns; also it is the component of many of the analgesic formulations, where it demonstrates a synergistic effect with those analgesics, however, it is a bitter and highly water-soluble API. Therefore, the main aim of this work was to develop a robust fast melt tablets of Caffeine using simple and inexpensive manufacturing methods with masking the bitter taste of a model API, Caffeine, by using solid dispersion techniques then evaluate the taste masked tablets in different in-vivo methods. To achieve these goals, the work in this thesis divided into three chapters: Chapter 1:- Screening of different co-processed excipients for preparing of Caffeine fast melt tablets. Chapter 2:- Formulation, evaluation and taste masking of Caffeine FMTs by using solid dispersion technique. Chapter 3:- In-vivo studies of the selected Caffeine taste masked fast melt tablets |
