Abstract

This study was held to: Determine the combined mesio-distal width of the permanent mandibular incisors and that of the maxillary and mandibular canines and premolars in a group of Egyptian Beni-swief governorate. And to find the correct relationship of the total mesiodistal widths of teeth under study. This study was held on 270 subjects with an age range from 12-15 years attending schools at Beni-swief governorate. (A) Inclusion criteria: Subjects age between 12-15 years. Positive subjects acceptance for participation in the study. Full set of the permanent dentition from left 1st permanent molar to right 1st permanent molar. Subjects selected with no previous orthodontic treatment to eliminate possibility of any interproximal reduction. Proximal caries free. The results of this study revealed that: The teeth size of males was slightly larger than that of the females. There was no statistical significant difference in the mean of mesiodistal tooth width between right and left sides for almost all teeth under study. A positive correlation exists between the sum of the mesiodistal width of upper right canine and premolars and the sum of the mesiodistal width of the lower incisors among both genders combined. A positive correlation between the sum of the mesiodistal width of upper left canine and premolars and the sum of the mesiodistal width of the lower incisors among both genders combined was evident. A positive correlation exists between the sum of the mesiodistal width of lower right canine and premolars & the sum of the mesiodistal width of the lower incisors among both genders combined
