Abstract Effective electrochemical sensors, based on ionic liquid crystal (ILC) and NdFeO3 nano-perovskite (NF)/ILC modified carbon paste electrode (CP), were introduced for the electrochemical determination of di-hydroxybenzene isomers exhibiting higher electro-catalytic activity compared to unmodified electrodes. ILCCP and NFILCCP were utilized for the electrochemical sensing of hydroquinone (HQ) and catechol (CC) in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). The effect of type of ionic liquid and the amounts of ILC, NdFeO3 and SDS have been studied and optimized. NdFeO3 nano-perovskite has been prepared via citrate-nitrate microwave assisted combustion method. The characterization of the prepared nano-perovskite, morphological and structural identification, was done using XRD, SEM, EDAX, FTIR and TEM techniques. NdFeO3 and ILC were used as modifiers in the CP and SDS as a preconcentrating agent. In general, the proposed sensors exhibited superior performance toward the determination of the studied compounds in terms of selectivity, wide linearity range, sensitivity, low detection limits, applicability in real samples, good stability and anti-interference ability |
