Abstract

Metastatic disease to the bone has been a crippling devastating Introduction:The development of complication of various cancers, with unbearable pain . limiting side effects, limits analgesic efficacy in nearly 42% of -medication doseevaluate the effectiveness and The aim of our work is to .cancer pain patients safety of Pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) and Thernal radiofrequency (TRF) lesion of the Dorsal root ganglion (DRG) on a consecutive group of patients presenting with chronic thoracic axial pain due to vertebral bone metastasis In TRF group there is statistically significant decrease in pain at 1 week, : Results1 and 3 months according to VAS%, Mean±SD 46.37±7.13, 50.35±8.11 and 48.78±9.55 respectively (P-value<0.001) . Patients receiving PRF showed statistically significant decrease in VAS% at 3 months in comparison to before intervention (P-value <0.027). However,TRF group showed lower pain in comparison to PRF at 3 months (P-value<0.001). At 3 months follow up, opioid consumption was the lowest in the second group in comparison to the other 2 groups. In terms of quality of life QLQ-C30 Global health in TRF was the highest after 3 months, Mean±SD 51.08±9.51, in comparison to PRF and steroid group, Mean±SD 41.30±9.56 and 38.76±12.47 respectively(P-value<0.001). Conclusion:TRF showed better results in terms of pain relief, opioid consumption and quality of life.
