Abstract This study includes DNA finger print study of the two plants. The results of the phytochemical screening revealed the presence of carbohydrates, and/or glycosides, tannins, flavonoids and volatile constituents in the leaves and deseeded fruits of the two plants, the presence of small amounts of saponins in the leaves and their absence in the fruits. Study of the volatile constituents of the fruits revealed the presence of 43 compounds in P. communis L. fruits in which nonacosane was the major one and revealed the presence of 87 compounds in M. domestica Borkh. fruits volatile constituents in which nonacosane was the major one. Study of the lipoidal matter revealed the presence of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids with palmitic acid as the major saturated fatty acid and linolenic acid as the major unsaturated fatty acid in the leaves and linolelaidic and erucic acid in the fruits. LC-MS/MS analysis of the methanolic extracts of leaves, fruits peel and pulp resulted in identification of 73 compounds of different classes. Ten compounds were isolated, they were: Beta-sitosterol, Stigmastan 3, 5- diene, Phloridzin, Pomaceic acid, Avicularin, Hyperoside, Euscaphic acid, Rutin and Luteolin -7-O- glucoside |
