Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the patient satisfaction using visual analogue scale (VAS) and dimensional accuracy of Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and Bre{u2013}flex (second edition) in class III modification 1 removable partial dentures using digital caliper. This study was conducted on twenty four patients attending the outpatient clinic, Department of Prosthodontics, Faculty of Dentistry (Cairo University). All patients had a partial loss of teeth in the upper arch as class III mod 1 Kennedy classification. Equal two bounded edentulous spaces. And the opposing dentition had a complete set of teeth.Twenty four maxillary removable partial dentures were constructed. Then the patients were randomized to be divided into two groups identical in number, twelve patients in each group. The first group: received an injectable polyetheretherketone (PEEK) maxillary partial denture reinforced by metal framework. The second group: received an injectable Bre.flex maxillary partial denture reinforced by metal framework.Patient{u2019}s satisfaction was assessed using VAS of 100mm in length by asking the patient to rate his perception. Patient satisfaction included six domains; general satisfaction, stability, retention, chewing efficiency, esthetics and speech. The assessment was made after one week of denture insertion and after 4 weeks of denture insertion.Dimensional accuracy was measured for each group at baseline (at time of denture insertion), after 2 weeks of denture insertion and after 4 weeks of denture insertion. There was statistically insignificant between group I and group II regarding patient satisfaction and dimensional accuracy
