Abstract

Recently, progressive censored samples have become quite popular in a life-testing problem and reliability analysis. Wu and Ku{u00B8}s (2009) proposed a life-test plan called progressively first-failure censored sampling which is a combination between the concepts of first-failure censoring and Type-II progressive censoring. This life-test plan is develop the first-failure censoring scheme when the experimenter desires to remove some sets of test units before observing the first-failures in all sets, moreover, the progressively first-failure censored sampling can be saving test cost and test time. This type of censoring contains as special cases various types of censoring schemes such as Type-II progressive censoring scheme, the joint probability density function of the first-failure-censored order statistics, single Type-II censoring scheme and complete sampling. In this thesis, using the maximum likelihood and Bayesian estimation methods, we present a relevant review of literature for estimating the unknown parameters as well as some lifetime parameters such as survival and hazard rate functions of some lifetime distributions under progressively first-failure censored sampling. The main aim of this thesis is to discuss the point and interval estimation problems of the unknown parameters and some reliability characteristics such as survival and hazard rate functions of some lifetime distributions based on progressively first-failure censored sampling, when the number of groups removed at each first-failure time is pre-fixed or a random with follows a discrete distribution
