Abstract

containing ether group either single or combined with other drugs. In this thesis, two mixtures and a single drug (mivacurium chloride (MIVC)) were studied separately as representative examples for ether group containing drugs. The first mixture contains naproxen sodium (NAP) and diphenhydramine hydrochloride (DPH); and the second one contains ebastine (EBS) and phenylephrine hydrochloride (PHE).The aim of this work was to develop different analytical methods which are characterized by simplicity, accuracy and appropriate degree of sensitivity for the analysis of the above-mentioned drugs in their powdered form, and in the presence of dosage-form excipients, degradation products, or potential impurities. Simple UV-Spectrophotometric, chromatographic, and ion-selective electrode based potentiometric methods were developed for the analysis of the first mixture (NAP and DPH). Moreover, dissolution of both drugs from their combined tablets was monitored by applying different analytical techniques. Additionally, protein-binding behavior of the two drugs was investigated utilizing solid-contact ion-selective electrodes. The second mixture (EBS and PHE) was assayed by variable UV-Spectrophotometric methods, and separation of the drugs from their potential impurities was achieved by different chromatographic methods and Eco-Scale green metric tool was applied. Liquid- and solid-contact potentiometric sensors were developed for to quantify and monitor the rate of MIVC enzymatic and chemical hydrolysis. This thesis contains four parts in addition to references, Arabic and English summaries; Part I: General introduction and literatures review. Part II: Analysis of Naproxen Sodium and Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride in Combination. Part III: Analysis of Ebastine and Phenylephrine Hydrochloride Part IV: Electrochemical Sensation of Mivacurium Chloride
