Abstract This case control study was done to assess the association between serum neonatal 25 (OH) D level at birth and pulmonary morbidities in preterm infants. Serum 25 (OH) D levels were measured by enzyme{u2013}linked immunosorbent assay for 88 preterm neonates (<37 weeks gestation) in 1st day of life, divided into two groups; case group(44 neonates) who had respiratory distress in 1st day of life and control group (44 neonates) who didn{u2019}t have clinical picture of respiratory distress. Statistically significant difference was noted between vitamin D in case and control group (p value 0.001). No relation was found between vitamin D level and grades of RDS (p value 0.24). Also no relation was found between vitamin D and bronchopulmonary dysplasia p value 0.627 |
