Abstract

The present studies were carried out on a total number of 81 dogs of different breeds (32 German shepherd, 12 Rottweiler, 8 Pit-bull, 8 Labrador, 8 Golden retriever, 5 mastiff, 2 Boxer, 2 Great Dane, 2 Husky, 1 Griffon, and 1 Cane Corso), sexes and their ages ranged from 1.5 months to 6 years. Dogs were classified into: (1) Healthy group (control = 15), (2) Septic-SIRS group (n= 9), (3) Canine Parvoviral group (CPV) (n= 27), (4) Canine Ehrlichiosis group (n= 19) and (5) Canine Demodecosis group (n=11). All dogs were subjected to a thoroughly clinical and physical examination; blood samples were withdrawn on EDTA tubes for hematology, detect blood parasites and for bacteriological culture, plain tubes for serum separation to estimate Procalcitonin (PCT), C-reactive protein (CRP) and analysis of total protein profile. In septic-SIRS group showed leucocytosis with neutrophilia, hypoprotenemia with hypoalbuminemia and significant increase in PCT level in comparison with CRP and total leucocyte count. In CPV group showed anemia, leucopenia with neutropenia, lymphopenia, monocytosis, hypoproteniemia with significant increase in CRP. In E.canis group showed anemia, thrombocytopenia, neutrophilia and significant increase in PCT and CRP levels
