The study was conducted in pediatrics hospital at Cairo university, 40 acute asthmatic children were compared to 40 healthy children as a control group. The results were as follows: Serum HSP70 levels were significantly higher in acute asthmatic children compared to normal controls (p=0.022). There were no significant differences in HSP70 levels between groups of mild, moderate or severe acute asthma attacks (p=0.557). There were no significant correlations between serum HSP70 and degree of respiratory distress or the grade of acute asthma. Serum HSP70 had a sensitivity of 60% and specificity of 70% in diagnosing acute asthma in children |
