Abstract

This study was conducted under the temperate climatic conditions at Kafrelsheik Governorate, Egypt, during the months of October and November, 2020. In this study, 225 unsexed day-old Indian River (IR) broiler chicks. Their average body weight (BW) was 42 ±2.1g and brooded under standard brooding conditions. The birds were exposed to five different treatments (45 chicks each) following their identifying with wing rings. The chicks in the first pen were reared under white light color (WLC) and kept as a control group. While, the chicks in the second pen were kept under blue light color (BLC) from an incandescent bulb two days before and after vaccination. The chicks in the third pen were reared under green light color (GLC) from an incandescent bulb two days before and after vaccination.
The chicks in the fourth pen were supplemented with vita E & Se in their drinking water for 2 days before and after vaccination at the rate of 5 ml/liter. Finally, the chicks in the fifth pen their diet were supplemented with potassium iodide (KI) at level of 5 mg/kg of feed for 2 days before and after vaccination. Some data were taken as; weekly body weight (BW), feed intake (FI) and water intake (WI). Also, feed conversion ratio (FCR) and total mortality were calculated. In addition, blood samples were taken randomly every week to monitor some blood parameters as H/L ratio and ND antibody responses. Some broiler behaviors were recorded using a digital camera (feed intake, water intake, resting, preening, and stretching of wing and wing flapping)
The obtained results could be summarized in the following: -
 The total feed intake of broilers was decreased by rearing them under blue or green light colors and by adding vit E &Se to drinking water in compared with white light color.
 The final body weight of broilers was increased by rearing them under blue or green light colors and by adding vit E & Se to drinking water.
 The body weight gain of broilers was increased by rearing them under blue or green light colors and by adding vit E & Se to drinking water.
 The economic FCR was recorded in birds reared under blue light color.
 Total mortality of broilers was increased by rearing them under white light colors in compared to other groups.
 The use of blue or green light colors in the broiler farms were comfortable for them in compared with white light color.
 the highest duration of rest was recorded in the broilers kept under the blue light color group and green light color group. While, the lowest frequency of rest was recorded in the broilers kept under white light color group and supplemented groups.
 the highest frequency of wall and ground pecking behavior was recorded in the birds kept under the white light color group, green light color group and supplemented groups. Meanwhile, the lowest frequency of wall and ground pecking behavior was recorded in the birds kept under the blue light group.
