Abstract

1.2. Aim and Objectives
This study aims to determine the groundwater quality for domestic use and different agricultural purposes, by determining the water quality with some modern techniques and compare them with the traditional techniques over time.
Groundwater quality temporal variation is also an aim of this thesis to evaluate the trend of groundwater quality over years to be able to understand the changes affected the groundwater aquifer. The data used in this thesis was derived from previous works for other researcher in the study area. Unfortunately, the collected data over years were not for the same wells, so the data for each year was mapped using ArcGIS and a boundary was drawn for the area of intersection of the three years .
Methodology
This chapter elaborates on the methods that were used to process and analyze the data to achieve the aims and objectives of the project.
conclusion and recommendation can be summarized as follows:
I. Most of the water sample fall in Sodium Chloride and Calcium Sulphate zones and such waters have direct salinity problems that are classified as not suitable for drinking purposes according to Piper trilinear diagram .
II. based on the WHO Standards limits and the methods which have been applied to evaluate the groundwater quality of the study area for drinking and irrigation activities over time, it was found that the quality of the groundwater is slightly getting better from year 2000 to 2004 to finally year 2015 for both drinking and irrigation.
III. the study area could be divided into three parts according to the groundwater suitability for drinking and irrigation, the eastern part next to the mountains is classified as suitable for both drinking and irrigation purposes, the central part is classified as good for drinking and agriculture with some precautions and the southwestern part is classified as not suitable for drinking and irrigation activities.
IV. based on the land use changes which has been detected as mentioned before using google earth Satellite maps, it found that the study area has a rapid increase in the agriculture lands Specially from year 2004 to 2015, this rapid development is mainly on the eastern part which is classified of good quality for drinking and agriculture activities.
